Vatican in gay priest shocker!

The Vatican has announced that it is renewing its ban on gay priests and on "supporters of gay culture" whatever the hell that means. I don't have a problem with this as long as they also ban heterosexual priests. Surely a celibate priesthood should be looking for asexual priests or am I missing the point here?

Joe Higgins - clearly the best TD in the Dáil

Our, er, eccentric Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea was pictured on the front page of the Irish Times (and other publications) today pointing a handgun at the photographer. It was a photo op of some variety. It was a good picture.

In the Dáil today several TDs (Rabbitte, Sargent etc) made predictable condemnations but the bould Joe Higgins trumped them all with his statement. "As a matter of Dáil security, did the Tánaiste require the Minister for Defence to leave his weapon at the door this morning?". Excellent.

Renault Scenic II Headlight - stupidity

OK, this is not earth shattering but......

A bulb blew on one of the headlights on our Renault Scenic. No big deal. I bought a new bulb and headed home.... I looked under the bonnet (hood) and could see no way of accessing the headlights. I checked in the owner's manual only to find that Renault "recommend that the bulbs be changed at the dealer". Bastards. So apart from the massive inconvenience of it I will have to pay about €75 every time a bulb blows. Fantastic. I Googled and found that I am not alone - many other freaks like me have ranted about it too. It's a total scam designed to make money for the dealers....

28/11/05 Update - OK, in fairness the dealer in Sandyford only charged €10 to make the change and did it in about 5 minutes.....
