There was an interesting article in the Observer last Sunday (6 October 2005) about childcare. It was giving the results of a study of children from birth to three years and reported that babies who were cared for by their mothers fared better than those looked after by child minders, grandparents or creches. The article contained 889 words. The word 'father' did not appear. It seems that it did not even occur to the creators of the study nor to the journalist writing the article that a child might be looked after by their father.

This seems a little bit odd to me.
